How can I become a member of Pärnu St Elizabeth’s Parish?
Membership begins with Baptism, which may be received in childhood at the request of the parents or as an adult. An adult preparing for Baptism receives instruction called confirmation instruction or the catechumenate, followed by confirmation. Those baptised as children should also attend confirmation classes when they reach adulthood, so that they may affirm the faith and become full members of the parish. Confirmation enables a member to present their children for Baptism, marry in church and serve as a godparent.
To join the parish or arrange a child’s Baptism, please contact the parish office or one of the clergy.
Life as a committed Christian and active parish member includes personal faith and devotion expressed in regular prayer, reading Scripture and serving one’s neighbours. It also includes participation in Sunday worship and the rites of the Church, especially confession and Holy Communion.
