The parish’s income comes mainly from donations by its members and other generous people.
The largest expense is repair of the church building. Salaries, electricity, heating and other unavoidable costs must also be met. Contrary to a common assumption, parishes are not funded from the state budget; their work depends on people’s support.
Donations, including membership contributions, may be made by bank transfer:

Church repairs in 2026
Restoration of the windows

In June, with generous help from Pärnu City Government and private donors, the confirmation hall windows were restored inside and out. Thank you, Mart Hirtentreu!
On 27 June restoration begins on the exterior window in the east wall of the sanctuary, the last unrestored window in the renovated section of the façade. A donation has already covered one third of the required self-financing. Thank you to K, who donated for their birthday. About €2,500 still needs to be raised. To help, write “kiriku remondi heaks” in the payment description.
Restoration of the fence

A second major project is restoration of the fence on Nikolai Street. A maple tree has damaged both the foundation and fence. The total cost is €13,264: €3,348 for the foundation and €9,916 for the fence. By 9 June 2026, €3,000 had been donated. Thank you to the generous donor. See photographs of its present condition.
Other recent work
In recent years the roof structures and cornices have been repaired, the Nikolai Street façade renewed and the exterior door of the confirmation hall restored. In summer 2025 the north and south façades were restored, and some nave windows were being repaired. The ceiling, Nikolai Street fence and tower still await work, and the transept organ needs voicing.
Estonian Public Broadcasting reported on the façade work on 15 October 2025: ERR report (in Estonian).
Upgrading the sound system
On 21 May 2025 the church’s mixing console and radio microphones were replaced with digital equipment, a major improvement over the analogue system used for more than twenty years. The lectern microphones and, later, the wall-mounted loudspeakers still need replacing to provide clear sound throughout the church. We are completing this work step by step with supporters’ help.
How to donate
Regular donations allow the parish board to plan its work. A standing bank order is the simplest method. Even a small regular gift—€0.50 per day, about €15 per month—helps.
Cash donations may be made at the parish office, Monday–Thursday 10:00–14:00 and on Sundays before and after morning Mass. To support a particular purpose, state it in the payment description, for example “helisüsteemi heaks” (sound system) or “kiriku remondi heaks” (church repairs).
Thank you to all our supporters!
Estonian income-tax relief
Under Estonian tax rules, eligible donations to the parish may be deducted from taxable income. The parish must know the donor’s Estonian personal identification code. If unsure, contact parnu.eliisabeti@eelk.ee.
Support the parish by staying at our hotel/hostel
You can also support the parish by staying at Hotel/Hostel Lõuna when visiting Pärnu. The hotel is on the ground floor of Lõuna 2 and the lower-cost hostel on the first floor. The establishment belongs entirely to Pärnu St Elizabeth’s Parish, so staying there—and recommending it—supports parish ministry. HostelLouna.eu
