Frequently asked questions
Here you will find answers to common questions about visiting the church, the sacraments and parish life. If you cannot find the answer you need, please contact us.
May I attend a worship service if I have not been baptised?
Yes, of course! Our worship services are open to everyone. Come and listen, join in the singing, or simply be present. The church is the house of God, where everyone is welcome.
If this is your first visit, you may sit wherever you wish. If you have any questions, speak to a pastor after the service or contact the parish office.
When are worship services held?
Sundays at 10:00 – Holy Mass with Holy Communion
Wednesdays at 18:00 – weekday Mass
Mass in Finnish – on the third Sunday of each month at 12:30
Times may vary on feast days and for special events. See the current calendar.
What should I do in church? How should I behave?
Attending church is simple:
- Arrive a little before the service begins so that you can take a hymn book and find a seat
- Dress respectfully, but comfortably
- The order of service is in the service booklet, and the hymn numbers are displayed on the boards. You are also welcome simply to listen
- Holy Communion is received by those who are baptised and prepared
- After the service, everyone is welcome for coffee in the confirmation hall
Please do not hesitate to ask questions – members of the congregation will be happy to help.
How can I have my child baptised?
To arrange a baptism, please contact the parish office:

A child is baptised at the request of the parents, who should be members of the parish. At least one godparent must be a baptised and confirmed member of the Church.
Baptisms are normally held in the church. Read more about baptism.
How can we arrange a church wedding?
A church wedding requires the couple to be baptised and confirmed Christians.
Please contact the parish pastor at least 2–3 months before the planned wedding day:

📞 516 4158
Before the wedding, the couple will meet with the pastor. The wedding service is held in the church.
How can I arrange a funeral?

How can I join the parish or attend confirmation classes?
To become a communicant member of the parish, you need to be baptised and confirmed.
If you have been baptised but not confirmed: you may join a confirmation course. Come to Sunday Mass at 10:00 and stay for coffee afterwards in the confirmation hall. There you can meet members of the parish and learn about the next course.
If you have not been baptised: adults may prepare for baptism and confirmation together. Please contact a pastor.
Am I required to make a donation?
Giving is voluntary, but the work and upkeep of the church depend on the support of parish members.
Parish members make an annual membership contribution. The suggested amount is at least 1% of income, although many also tithe or support the parish in another amount.
You may also make a one-off or designated donation, for example towards church repairs, music or youth work.
