On the first Sunday after Pentecost, we contemplate the Holy Trinity with reverence.
The doctrine of the Trinity seeks to summarise the mystery presented in different places throughout the Bible: God is the heavenly Father and Creator; he is Jesus Christ, the Son of God and Saviour; he is the Holy Spirit, who is active among us today and sanctifies us. And yet there are not three Gods, but one.
“We worship one God in Trinity, and Trinity in Unity, neither confounding the Persons nor dividing the Substance,” says the Athanasian Creed.
In this earthly life we can never explain or understand this mystery completely. Yet we come to know God by seeking to love him and keep his commandments, and by praising and serving him.
Welcome to church today at 10:00, when Archbishop Emeritus Andres Põder will preach and coffee will follow, and at 12:30 for Mass in Finnish!
