Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” (John 20:26)
A week has passed since the holy day of the Lord’s Resurrection, yet the newness and significance of that event have not diminished in the slightest. If anything, as time passes we learn to recognise its meaning ever more deeply—as we ourselves grow in understanding the mysteries of our faith.
Just as the first witnesses of the Resurrection became apostles—those who were sent to carry the message of God’s mighty deeds in Jesus Christ to the whole world and to all people—so we too, as Christians and disciples of Jesus, are called to bear witness in one way or another before our relatives and friends, colleagues and everyone else: Christ is truly risen. He rose not only once in the past; he is alive among us today and desires to give us the peace that the world cannot give.
See you at church!
