🌿 PERISHABLE AND IMPERISHABLE TREASURES 🌿
Jesus says: “Take care! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of possessions.” (Luke 12:15)
We spend much of our lives accumulating—knowledge, experience, possessions and achievements. Today, however, Jesus reminds us that everything earthly will pass away and therefore does not occupy the highest place in the order of values. The truly precious treasures are those that neither inflation, moth nor rust can consume: faith, love, mercy, generosity and fellowship with God.
God does not forbid us to work, create or own property. He does, however, call us to use everything entrusted to us as a blessing to one another. For in the end we will not be asked how much we accumulated, but how much we loved.
You are welcome to the Lord’s table at St Elizabeth’s Church today at 10:00. Our guest preacher is the Revd Esa Luukkala, director of the EELC Mission Centre. During the service our parish’s new fellow workers, the missionaries Anna-Maija and Veijo Olli, will also be commissioned and blessed for their ministry.
As usual, the service will be followed by coffee and an opportunity for fellowship.
Come and gather with us the treasures that endure even when everything else has passed away.
